Soon you will know just how easy it is to build a hexagonal nut using Catia v5., and I hope this tutorial will help you to learn some basic commands of Catia v5. In this tutorial I assume that you are not using Catia for first time.
Step 1:
We will design the bolt according to the standard given bellow. In my case the normal diameter of bolt is 24 mm.
Step 2:
Step 3: (optional)
Menu bar >tools>Customize
Step 4:
Click on sketcher work branch
and then click on xy plane.
Step 5:
And now you are in sketcher work branch. And now go to menu bar
Insert > Profile > Predefined Profile > Hexagon
Or
Bring you pointer to zero coordinate. it will snap this point automatically. And the picture will be something like this.
Step 6:
Step 7:
See in step 1 fig.2. We have taken D = 24 mm the Diameter of the bolt. So 2D = 48. After dimensioning the color of the profile will turn into Green color the sign of fully constraint.
Now click here to Com out from sketcher work branch. If you are unable to find this icon you can refer Step 3. You may get the solution.
Step 8:
Sketch based Features >
Step 9:
I hope you have successfully completed the pad command. In next few steps we will make a hole.
In type Tab select the simple option. And we will discus later about the Thread definition.
Step 10:
After completing these steps the centre point color will convert to green color. And now Com out from sketcher work branch. and press in Hole definition deluge box.
Step 11:
Click on sketcher work branch . Select the ZX plane
Step 12:
Step 13:
Step 14:
Previously we learned an advance technique to make constrain.
Now we will use the basic way to make it constrain.
This command will highlight after the selection
Step 15:
Step 16:
Step 17:
Com out from sketcher work branch.
you can click any where of the hole to select the axis
Step 18:
Step 19:
Congratulation you have completed this assignment. Now you have some basic knowledge of Catia v5.You can share your experience with me through this feedback form.
